Personal Development:

Diva has come a long way since she first arrived in Duplicity. After being wrangled by various people throughout her stay and making/losing people she's come to consider friends, the Chiropteran Queen has mellowed somewhat. While her instincts are still very much in working order, she's learned to think twice before outright killing others and has learned the importance of consent when it comes to sinking her teeth into a person's neck. Sure, she honestly doesn't really care all that much but people seem to be far more willing to offer themselves up to be fed on if she can guarantee she won't outright devour them.

The most important thing to her currently is keeping the little 'family' she's made with Tsurugi together. She's still afraid she might lose him someday, either to death or him being forcefully taken from her. The desire to turn him into a Chevalier is still there but she's been told by multiple people to reconsider it and wait for Tsurugi to accept it in time. Until then she's still fantasizing over the idea, hoping to someday make it a reality.

While Diva has managed to make friends over the years she hasn't many left; it'd be a lie to say she doesn't feel lonely quite a bit. She treasures what few people she has in her life that will tolerate her and has been trying her best to not become too jaded. It's hard though in a place like Duplicity.

⚜ TRAITS +/-

NEGATIVE

HEDONISTIC:

Diva is delightfully depraved and deprived, having been the unfortunate result of a terrible nature vs nurture twin experiment. Growing up in the 1800s in a locked tower in France, never allowed to leave and chained up inside, Diva's been well aware from the start of her status as an 'experiment'. Most of the time spent in her tower she was kept in rags or left naked altogether, allowing her Chevalier Amshel to sponge bathe her when she'd make a mess during feeding time. With not much to do to pass the time in her tower, Diva busied herself with singing and chatting to her sister Saya through the bolted door. Before Saya gave her a name, Diva didn't have one, which only highlights how poorly she was treated and regarded. While Saya was given everything her heart desired and lavished with attention and affection, Diva was denied personhood and agency, having everything decided for her with no say in the matter.

This treatment has turned Diva the exact opposite of humble. She's greedy, full of herself and is constantly wanting, whether it be a meal or attention. She seeks out experiences that will make her feel good, regardless of how her actions may affect others. She's a lady of many demands and expects to have them fulfilled, full stop. If something's fun she wants to do it. If something's delicious she wants to eat it. After having been denied her own freedom for so many years she has a whole laundry list of wants and desires to be sated and won't let anyone stop her from doing so. What's craved most of all by Diva, aside from Saya's attention and approval, is her freedom. When she is allowed out and unleashed upon the world, she's a bit like a teenager who's just went away to collage for the first time. She's indulgent and out of control, if not more demanding than she ever has been.

NEEDY:

Having little agency or education has left Diva unable to do many things most people can. Her ability to read and write (depending on the language) is rudimentary or passable at best, nor has she ever had to dress, wash her hair or bathe herself. That's not to say she's not capable of fending for herself or learning how to do any of these tasks - she just rather not. Emotionally she's somewhat stunted, childish at times, demanding and prone to throwing a fit if she doesn't get her way. Said fits can be violent, usually resulting in her lashing out until she tires herself out and naps off her bad mood.

That's perhaps the most important thing about Diva - she's lonely, and understandably so. Her own twin sister having rejected her and her companions being men much 'older' than she is, Carl aside, she has no one to relate or really speak to. She craves attention, acting over the top to get it and, well, a lot like her namesake.

AMORAL:

Never being taught right from wrong and having her natural predatory side encouraged, Diva is like an unsocialized, wild animal. She isn't tame by any means, and lacks a sense of shame or morality from never being provided with a moral compass in the first place. She sees humans as below her, not because she necessarily believes she's a superior being but because they're quite literally food to her. That's not to say she's incapable of having a civil conversation with one, but it'd be akin to talking to a hungry lioness. She's unpredictable in her moods and unless you're one of a select few, she cares little whether or not you live or die. She has very little sense of her own morality and death doesn't phase her, even if they're the deaths of her own Chevaliers. It's as if she doesn't exactly grasp the finality of it with regards to herself, even though she's been the cause of numerous deaths. That isn't to say death hasn't upset her before. When Diva finds out that her favourite Chevalier Carl had been killed by her sister she's furious, but it's more so out of the fact Carl had been a playmate and companion to her. With him dead that leaves her with no one remotely her age to relate to and she's a bit more lonely than she'd been before.

It isn't only death that Diva doesn't seem to truly have a grasp on. Life too, in of itself, and what it means to create life and live are things she doesn't fully understand. An example of this would be how her two Chevaliers Amshel and Solomon, want to have her become pregnant to test a theory they have that as the progenitor of her species she can reproduce. They present the idea to her as 'mating to have a baby' and while she understands what one has to do to make a baby, she doesn't exactly grasp the full responsibility that comes with having one and raising it. It's not initially her idea either and she agrees to it on the pretense that if she gives Amshel and Solomon what they want, they'll help her realize her dream. That being said it is apparent Diva wants a 'family'...regardless of what form that 'family' would take.

POSITIVE

AUTHENTIC:

If there's one thing that Diva is it's genuine. What you see is what you get and she's very proud of what she is (a Chiropteran Queen) regardless of how others may view her or see her as monstrous. She's self confident, haughty, and there's no mincing words when it comes to how she feels or what she thinks - she's blunt to a fault and flat out shameless. She doesn't try to be anything that she isn't, for better or worse, and expects people to accept her how she is, flaws and all. She's easy to read and her beliefs and dreams for the future can be somewhat naive at times. She believes, wholeheartedly, that if everyone on the planet becomes what she is, that she won't have to be seen as a monster anymore, that she and her sister will live together, happily ever after. Of course this belief is flawed, but it shows at Diva's core that she isn't inherently 'evil' or some individual wanting world domination or power for power's sake. Ultimately she wants to belong, even if she doesn't have the first clue in how to truly go about doing just that. It's this desire to belong that drives her at her core, and she won't shy away from stating her intentions to those who ask. She has a problem with oversharing, if you will.

⚜ ABILITIES

As a Chiropteran queen Diva's been endowed with some pretty impressive abilities.

Strength - Diva is incredibly strong, more so than your average human being. She could easily snap a person's neck, punch a hole in a brick wall or throw a grown man with minimal effort. She's also rather quick on her feet and is able to jump impressively high. (Jumping onto the roof of a house for example wouldn't be hard for her.) She also has sharp nails and teeth, respectively.

Voice & Intimidation - Diva is a brilliant, talented singer, her voice otherworldly. Those who hear her sing are easily mesmerized by the sound and drawn to it, but it's only other Chiropterans who hear her that she can control/have them go berserk. Otherwise the effect is a bit like a siren's song. As for intimidation her presence alone can come across as foreboding or something to fear, even if she herself may look non-threatening.

Senses - Diva's senses (sight, smell, hearing etc) are all far more sensitive than a human's. Not only can she see in the dark, but she can track a person by the sound of their heartbeat and scent.

Regeneration - Diva possesses incredible regeneration abilities. Normal wounds heal in a matter of seconds (such as a cut from a knife for example) and a bullet from a gun wouldn't be fatal to her. (She gets shot in the face and laughs about it.) The more serious the injury (such as amputation of a limb or gutting) would take a bit longer to heal, but the process is still rather quick. Technically the only thing that can kill Diva is having her sister's blood injected into her, which causes her body to crystallize and disintegrate. While decapitating her would render her immobile, technically she could be "brought back" to life. While she needs to consume blood in canon to keep up her strength, she would need to consume much more to fully recover from the energy needed to heal severe, repeated wounds/damage; it would leave her rather weak in constitution until she can properly feed/rest.

Glamour - Diva is able to change her physical appearance, however this ability is limited in comparison to those who have been sired by her (other Chevalier are capable of turning into bat-like monsters). She has used this ability to impersonate individuals in the past, although it isn't an ability she uses often.

Siring - As a Chiropteran queen, Diva has the ability to turn humans into Chiropterans, granting them similar abilities to her own (strength, regeneration) but at a more muted level. To do so the human must be bled out to a near death level and Diva must transfer her own blood to the Chevalier-to-be via mouth to mouth. This is an irreversible process. Those who are sired by her will feel a sense of attachment/loyalty they won't be able to overcome, regardless of how they feel about her. Note: with regards to the game, siring is something that would only be done (if at all) after months of IC CR/plotting with an interested party and with full permission of the other mun. This is not something Diva would do willy-nilly in game, but I would like to keep the option open for potential development way down the line.

Sword Fighting - Diva is capable of wielding a sword effectively, being shown to be rather adept at fighting with said weapon, even if it isn't something she does often.
